RESULTS OF EXECUTIVE MEETING

On Thursday 11 September, the Council Executive rejected the recommendation of the Council's Overview Committee (25 June) to register ALL of Kingsmead Field as a voluntary Village Green.  Instead, it reaffirmed its decision of 3 July to sell off the rear portion of the field for housing.

The rear portion of Kingsmead Field contains an established woodland corridor which provides a valuable green link for wildlife between the two branches of the river Stour and has formed the main focus of our Nature Watch photographic series.  The Executive's decision runs counter to the Council's policy of giving special protection to urban open space and green infrastructure.

It is expected that the Council will put forward a planning application for residential development on the rear of the field in the coming weeks.
