Fantastic News!

Deferral of our Village Green decision!

At a public hearing on Tuesday, representatives of Kent County Council took the decision to postpone the decision on our Village Green application for Kingsmead Field until after the Supreme Court's judgement on a comparable application (the Barkas Case) next year.

This is great news for Kingsmead Field as it puts pressure on Canterbury City Council to review its decision to sell off the field for development.   Over the coming months, we will be calling on the Council to recognise the strength of public opinion on this issue and to protect the field for future generations.  The Council has two clear options in this respect, either to:

1)     Voluntarily register the field as a Village Green
2)     Or to designate it as a protected Local Green Space within the Local Plan.
