Council removes community bench!
The Kingsmead Field community bench disappeared yesterday morning...
Dog-walkers scoured the field, the undergrowth and the river looking for it, only to discover this morning that the Council had demanded its removal.
The Council claims that the bench does not meet their health and safety standards.
If this is the case, then we appeal to them to provide a bench that does.
The bench has become a popular feature on the riverbank beneath an old willow tree,
with great views over the field towards the Cathedral.

It has provided a welcome place for people to sit and relax, especially the elderly and infirm.
We hope to see not just one, but several benches, in place soon!
